Some sad news about the loss of a mother who was attending antenatal care from Kabubbu Health Centre.
She was 21 year-old Maria Nabaweesi who started her antenatal at KHC at 36 weeks. She was seen three times and booked for a caesarean section at 39 weeks because both babies were in the same sac and normal delivery wouldn’t be advised in this case.
She started feeling unwell in the night after her surprise baby shower organized by friends and family on 30th September. She delivered the first baby in the car while being rushed to a nearby clinic where she delivered the second baby. This all occurred on 1st October.
The medical officers and midwives saved the babies but mother went into a coma. She was referred to Kawempe hospital, admitted while on life support from 1st to 5th October when she died. She was buried on 6th October.
Yesterday the baby boys (first born is Joshua and second is Jeremiah) were brought to KHC for immunisation at two weeks. Their grandmother and aunt reported their care being expensive since they are sickly and tinned milk is costly. Other supplies given to them have persistently caused constipation with only one (first born) thriving normally.
The diagnosis that led to her death was severe Eclampsia (high blood pressure, fits and protein in urine) with kidney failure.
Please pray for these new-borns.
