It was wonderful to be back where we love to be – meeting people where they are. And we met up with many long-term supporters and met lots of new people. But It was rather a damp squib of a day, dodging the showers and downpours.
Nus Ghani, our Wealden MP, also dropped by. While chatting with her we were able to raise the issue concerning the proposed Government’s reduction in the overseas aid percentage. Nus reassured us that she did not support the reduction from 0.7% to 0.5% and has made representation to her colleagues. Unfortunately, on July 13 the reduction was confirmed by a vote in Parliament. Hailsham’s Mayor, Paul Holbrook also stopped by for a chat.
Listen out for some possible Quicken Trust airtime on Hailsham FM in due course.
Quicken Trust, Hailsham’s local international charity, now 21 years old, was delighted to support Hailsham Live and delighted to meet you there.
