A donor travelled to Kabubbu several times. While meeting families in the village she was introduced to an HIV positive lady living with her four children in a rented hovel. Much later the donor unexpectedly inherited some money and donated £5,000 to QT with instructions to buy land and build a two-room house for the family she met. Months later the donor sent a £500 gift for beds, blankets, pots and pans and with specific instructions to buy the lady a Bible.
The lady was overjoyed with the house and other gifts but threw the Bible into the corner of the room. Months later she started to think about why a ‘stranger’ had selected her for the house. She thought about her four children with different ‘dads’ and how her lifestyle may have contributed to their suffering. She picked up the Bible and began to read about a God who shows mercy to us and loves unconditionally. She began to talk to and develop a relationship with God that has changed her life. Now every morning and evening she and her children read the Bible and discuss how they can practice what they read.
