– Faridah Ndagire – PA to KDP Executive Director
‘Usually on Christmas, every home is full of food aroma, people put on new clothes specially bought for this day and it is all fun. But for me this had never been the case until I was 10 years old. I am the last born in a family of seven children and grew up with a single mother. When I was 10, mum surprised me on Christmas Day with a new dress which was made from a piece of the remains of her old dress. Oh, what joy filled my heart! Even without shoes, which she could not afford, I was so happy that she had strived to provide a dress. And rice; a meal every home endeavoured to have at Christmas. For the first time in my life, we took a photo on Christmas Day. This is a memory of my life and it is still so alive in me – it was so special.
As I grew up, I have come to realise that things we see as little and simple, can really mean the whole world to someone else.‘
