The Kabubbu Parish Health Centre now treats over 25,000 patients a year.<\/p>\n<p>There are nineteen members of staff including a resident doctor, clinical officers, nurses, midwives and a lab technician. Quicken supporters partner with staff.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre opened in December 2003 with the help of funding from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicef.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Unicef<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishairways.com\/travel\/home\/public\/en_gb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BA<\/a>. Before its construction, sick adults and children and expectant mothers had to travel six miles to the nearest government health clinic at Kasangati. This frequently led to maternity complications and even deaths.<\/p>\n<div id=\"image_portrait_right\">\n<p class=\"one\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/pageimages\/14a-building.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Primary medical treatment is free for partnered children at Kabubbu\u2019s schools. It is provided at a discount for other villagers. Partners in the UK provide essential funds for medicines, malaria treatment and even operations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_etHcvhBH_8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Watch: Interview with Nurse Susan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Kabubbu Parish Health Centre has established links to healthcare professionals in the UK \u2013 notably at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mildmay.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mildmay Mission Hospital<\/a> in east London. Uganda\u2019s health ministry and district health experts have told the Quicken Trust they are keen to see more links to organisations and individuals in UK to help supply health care.<\/p>\n<p>Facilities available at the Centre include:<\/p>\n<div id=\"image_portrait_right\">\n<p class=\"one\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/pageimages\/14b-amina.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"image_portrait_right_240px\"><em>This is Amina. In January 2006 she became the first baby to be born at the Kabubbu Health Centre. There were complications with delivery. Ugandan state healthcare can be chaotic: equipment failure is common; staff may be absent; mothers in labour may haemorrhage on the floor while someone who can pay jumps the queue for a caesarean. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickentrust.com\/dev\/?page_id=701\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Partner With a Nurse<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Malaria remains Uganda\u2019s biggest killer, claiming around 100,000 lives a year. Malaria and AIDS have devastated hundreds of families around Kabubbu. With the help of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unicef.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Unicef<\/a>, a malaria control programme has begun.  (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickentrust.com\/dev\/?page_id=701\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Project Partnership<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to supply a mosquito net to every person in Kabubbu. They will also get a bed and mattress so the net can be hung effectively and the person protected from mosquitoes.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/linebreak.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"--fontSize: 20; line-height: 1.45; --minFontSize: 20;\" data-fontsize=\"20\" data-lineheight=\"29px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\">The Kabubbu AIDS Centre<\/h2>\n<div id=\"image_portrait_right\">\n<p class=\"one\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/pageimages\/14d-building-people.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The AIDS Support Centre opened in 2009. Built in association with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mildmay.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mildmay Mission Hospital<\/a> in east London, it provides specialist support to over 1,000 AIDS victims. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.quickentrust.com\/dev\/?page_id=357\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Welfare<\/a>) It was formally opened by Uganda\u2019s vice president, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edward_Ssekandi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edward Ssekandi<\/a>, in 2010. The Centre has been the focus of campaigns to improve AIDS awareness in the community.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/linebreak.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"--fontSize: 20; line-height: 1.45; --minFontSize: 20;\" data-fontsize=\"20\" data-lineheight=\"29px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\">Irene\u2019s Story \u2013 A Miraculous Tale<\/h2>\n<p>Sometimes in Kabubbu, Quicken sees things that cannot be easily explained. Irene\u2019s story is one example of such Divine intervention in a hopeless situation.<\/p>\n<div id=\"image_portrait_right\">\n<p class=\"one\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/pageimages\/14e-enid-irene.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>After her father died from AIDS, Irene was diagnosed with HIV. She was two. She frequently had fever and skin problems. Drug treatment began but her immune system remained weak.<\/p>\n<p>In her teens, Irene and her mum, Enid, decided to fast and pray. Weeks later, at Irene\u2019s quarterly check-up, doctors could find no trace of the AIDS virus. Drug treatment continued but the next two check-ups produced the same result.<\/p>\n<p>Amazed, doctors declared her free from HIV. All skin problems had gone. The name of her church? Amazing Grace Miracle Valley Church!!<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/linebreak.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"--fontSize: 20; line-height: 1.45; --minFontSize: 20;\" data-fontsize=\"20\" data-lineheight=\"29px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\">A Unique Blessing?<\/h2>\n<div id=\"image_portrait_right\">\n<p class=\"one\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"images\/pageimages\/14f-ambulance.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Kabubbu Parish Health Centre can boast of one facility that is rare in rural Uganda \u2013 it has its own ambulance. The first vehicle was provided in 2006 by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotarygbi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rotary International<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eastbournerotary.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rotary Club of Eastbourne<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rotaractrubaga\/?ref=py_c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rotary Club of Rubaga<\/a> in Uganda.  A replacement was provided by a personal donor in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The ambulance brings people to the centre from outlying areas and ferries more serious cases to larger clinics or hospitals.
