These three girls are hoping to go far. They’ve been at school in Kabubbu but need new sponsors. One, Hellen, has good ‘A’ levels and wants to read law at uni.
Life is particularly tough for girls and women in Kabubbu, and through the Street Business School and the Graze School of Farming previously uneducated women are coming together to learn together.
In a pilot parenting class held at the primary school and attended by 120 parents, Kabubbu villagers began to realize that their traditional family structures don’t always respect the Kabubbu girl. In an open discussion, many parents and guardians agreed that they often live in emotionally, physiologically and physically disruptive environments that do not support the girl child to progress.
