Give a Gift of Hope

Medina, a little girl aged about four was found crying and alone at a crossroads in Kabubbu. She had run away from her grandmother who constantly beat her. Her parents were dead. We were asked to help. The child clung to us. What could we do?
For her own protection she was given a place at school. Four months later she died, possibly of malaria.
Education that has to be paid for is a price too dear. There are many orphaned and many destitute children living in and around Kabubbu, a rural area 25 km north of Kampala. Many live in extended families with their guardians and no state help.
Quicken Trust has built a primary school for the orphans in Kabubbu. It opened in March 2002 with 60 children. Today there are 500 children in primary education and a further 450 in secondary education.
Can you help us bring hope to other orphans by sponsoring a child for £20 a month (£30 in the secondary school) to include:
Food – two good meals each day - Basic healthcare
Education - School uniform
Your payment will start a month from date of application. You should receive details of your sponsored child within a month with a photo and a short profile.
At Christmas we will invite you to make an additional gift for your child. This provides a Christmas gift, purchased by the school so that all the children have the same value gift.
You can expect your sponsored child to write to you and we also encourage you to write to your child three times a year!
You may wish to sponsor a child at secondary school for their GCSE and ‘A’ level education which could lead to university or college. Secondary education costs £30 a month including boarding fees and study items. Only 14% of children in Uganda complete secondary education.
Perhaps you can consider the higher cost of sponsoring a student through Further Education (£50/month) or University (£100/month) enabling them to gain full qualifications leading to better work opportunities so they can support their young relatives through their education.
So, your gift is vital to enable one generation of children to complete their education.
Please would you consider becoming a ‘mother’ or ‘father’ or a ‘family’ to one of the orphans or the destitute children to give them hope for their future?
Please complete and mail the donation form which you can download by clicking here. 100% of your donation will be used in full at the point of need.
