Hundreds of people have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to help the Quicken Trust achieve its vision to transform the needy Ugandan village of Kabubbu.
Over the years dozens of schools, churches and businesses have got involved, including BA; British Council, Bede’s School; Burgess Hill School for Girls; Graze; Rotary International; Welcome Baptist Church, Heathfield. See Our partners
Quicken supporters have taken part in events such as marathons or have climbed mountains or hiked hills to raise cash to save lives and bring hope to the village. Why not become a marathon runner for Quicken at the annual Brighton Marathon, or run a similar event near you?
Others have taken a more eccentric route – for example, shaving off their hair for money! Some have forfeited gifts and asked for donations instead to mark their golden wedding, birthday, or marriage celebrations. If you are looking for inspiration, take a look at our Fundraising Photo Gallery.

Host a Chari-tea Party
But raising money can be a little more leisurely too. You can help the people of Kabubbu by hosting a tea party with some friends and neighbours. Is there a nicer way to fundraise?
It could be just you and a couple of friends sharing a cuppa and a cake – or a full garden party with the traditional scones, jam and cream all round. Whichever you choose, you’ll have a great time and your Chari-Tea Party will raise some vital cash. They could each donate £5 – or even more – to enjoy tea with you!
Your money could buy crucial equipment for the Parish Health Centre or the Welfare team or support Quicken’s projects in areas such as Agriculture or Adult Education. It might even encourage new sponsors to sign up. Every penny you raise will go to Kabubbu to change lives there.
It’s so easy to organise. We’ve got all the information – see below to download instructions, invitations, brochures, even place mats.
And, before you pop the kettle on, why not download a spare brochure for your friends, so they can host their own Chari-Tea Party?
