One of our Kabubbu Kids, though generously sponsored through university education, could not afford to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste. She developed a problem and was forced to pull her own tooth out. Horror!
Why? Well, it costs £10 to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste in Uganda. Something so simple for us, yet so pricey there. Add to that the business of a journey to Kampala for a dentist consultation which would cost at least 50,000 Ugandan Shillings (approximately £12), and this puts this option well out of the reach of #KabubbuKids.
So, a suggestion to you special people who sponsor a child in Kabubbu… With just a week to go to next week’s 22nd June parcel & letter deadline, could you add a brush & toothpaste in your parcel? Yes, it might be a squeeze!
Small reminder again that we are unable to take parcels to Kabubbu with the Volunteer trip in November, so cards and letters only please next time – by 12th October. You are welcome to bring them to our Victoria Baptist Church Coffee Morning (10.30am-12) – save the date!
Our toothy primary school Kabubbu Kid (pictured) has just been sponsored, but we have others waiting. Do you know anyone who would like to make the world of difference through steady sponsorship? Would you like Quicken Trust to talk to your church or social group?
If you do we’d be happy to send leaflets or come and talk to your group (although this does depend on distance!). Please contact us on 01323 832361 or email email@example.com
