The sponsorship of a KabubbuKid’s education not only changes the life of a child but the lives of a whole family.
Huzaifa who’s in year 2 primary school, lives with both parents Rehema and Budalah, and is enjoying a paid education thanks to a £1 per day donation from his sponsor. That £30 per month covers his school fees, two meals a day, school uniform and basic primary health care.
His parents didn’t go far in school and so both smash stones in a quarry to earn an uncertain income. “We were very happy when the sponsor of our child visited us. It was a great opportunity to tell him about our lives and he was able to see what we were writing about in the letters to him. It was a special feeling seeing him as well.” said Rehema.
This is a big family, and children were sleeping on three locally made beds and without bedding, all squeezed into a leaking three-roomed brick house. They could walk miles to collect water. Some families are fortunate in their sponsor relationship – a new home, a water tank and other home essentials are sometimes added. For this family life has drastically changed too. They are living in a well-rendered brick house with a water tank, beds and bedding – and a sofa for their sitting room. “It is now a spacious and peaceful home, all courtesy of my child’s sponsor. We are indeed so grateful,” said Rehema. An enduring relationship – and most importantly, Huzaifa can study and help himself out of poverty…
Contrast Huzaifa’s life with Ashraf whose mum struggles to find school fees too. Ashraf is now 11 years-old but he had a tough first year at primary school in 2016. Despite this, he persevered through year 2 with a very respectable finish of 7th in his class of 68. Perhaps he’s noticed his mum working hard to run a food restaurant and now knows something about the rewards of hard work. Now in year 3, he’s developed a love of literacy and maths and has decided he wants to work as a policeman. Life so far has been tough for Ashraf and his sibling Betty without a father at home. Home is a one-roomed rented mud & brick house with a tin roof, presumably leaky too. What a contrast to Huzaifa…
Sponsorship will offer Ashraf so much hope and encouragement – for just £1 per day. £30 per month covers his school fees, two meals a day, school uniform and basic primary health care, and the certainty of attending school each day.
